Established in 1958….. this FOUNDER DEPARTMENT of the COLLEGE…… has been the LEARNER’S DESTINATION for ACTION….REACTION…. &…..TRANSFORMATION

HOLISTIC EUCATION for a WHOLISTIC Personality……has been the sole MOTTO of THIS department for more than 65 years.

CHEMISTRY DEPARTMENT has been CATALYSING the TRANSFORMATION of aspiring naive girls into MATURE, ABLE, INDEPENDENT & SKILLFUL WOMEN with Social & Environmental Consciousness. 

FROM a modest beginning with 5 Undergraduate students, 1 teacher and 1 laboratory with 1 one Assistant…… THIS founder department has evolved into a DISTINGUISHED LEARNING HUB with 11 teachers, 6 student laboratories, one Research lab & 4 assistants. 

NOW… it is the CHOSEN learning destination for more than 500 Postgraduate, Undergraduate and Intermediate learners EVERY year. 

More than 150 students can SIMULTANEOUSLY conduct experiments in its laboratories with PERSONALISED work stations and storage space.

The VISION of the department….. to evolve into A CENTRE OF ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE WITH INDUSTRY PARTNERSHIP……is driven by…. its TEAM of 11 well qualified and committed teachers and 4 dedicated and skilled lab assistants. The faculty members INCLUDE

Faculty members of the department have published 3 text books with ISBN

This department offers Pharmaceutical & Medicinal Chemistry as a self learning SMOOCh course Through the SJC LMS.

CASE(Creative Awareness on Science Education) – Is a unique OUTREACH Programme -wherein- OUR students reach out to the underprivileged government school students and demonstrate interesting chemical reactions  to increase INTEREST & UNDERSTANDING on simple scientific principles among school children
